조선 어기(御旗) 자수 패치

'변화하는 세계 속, 조선의 정체성을 선포하다'
본 패치는 서울대학교 규장각 한국학연구원이 소장한 
'어기(御旗)' 도식을 바탕으로 제작되었습니다.
19세기 말, 서구 열강과의 외교 관계가 재편되던 시기 조선 왕실은
국가의 외양을 갖추고 자주성을 드러내기 위해 이 깃발을 제작했습니다.
'국왕의 기'로서 격동의 근대사를 관통했던 조선의 의지가 담긴 역사적 상징물입니다.

'왕실의 품격과 근대의 미학이 만난 도상'
제작자나 정확한 연대는 미상이나, 기록으로 남은 어기의 형태를 
EDC8ANG의 시각으로 정밀하게 복원했습니다.
전통적인 군영 기들과는 궤를 달리하며, 한 나라를 대표하는 
국왕의 상징으로서 절제되면서도 화려한 문양의 조화를 보여줍니다.
서울대학교 규장각의 사료를 철저히 참고하여, 깃발의 중심 문양과 테두리의 비례를
현대적인 패치 규격 안에 완벽하게 이식했습니다.

Joseon Eo-gi (Royal Standard) Embroidered Patch

"Proclaiming Joseon's Identity in a Changing World"
This patch is based on the schematics of the 'Eo-gi' (Imperial Standard/King’s Flag) held by the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies at Seoul National University. In the late 19th century, as diplomatic relations with Western powers were being reshaped, the Joseon royal court created this flag to establish national appearance and manifest its sovereignty. As the "Flag of the King," it is a historical symbol embodying Joseon's will through the turbulent era of modern history.

While the exact creator and date remain unknown, EDC8ANG has precisely restored the recorded form of the Eo-gi from a unique design perspective. Distinct from traditional military banners, it showcases a harmony of restrained yet magnificent patterns as the symbol of a monarch representing a nation. By thoroughly referencing historical archives from Seoul National University's Kyujanggak, the proportions of the central motif and borders have been perfectly transplanted into a modern patch format.
