Bulwonbok Taegeukgi (不遠復 太極旗)

불원복 태극기

This Taegeukgi was used during the righteous army (Uibyeong) resistance movement following the signing of the Eulsa Treaty in November 1905.
It was designated as a Registered Cultural Heritage of Korea on August 12, 2008.

The inscription Bulwonbok“不(불, not) 遠(원, far) 復(복, restore)” — embodies the determination that “the restoration of national sovereignty is not far away.”

The original Taegeukgi measures 128 cm in width and 82 cm in height. It is said that the Taegeuk circle and trigrams were created by layering pieces of cloth onto cotton fabric.

At edc8ang, it has been reinterpreted in embroidery and produced in two compact sizes:

  • A size: 7.5 × 5.5 cm

  • B size: 8.5 × 7 cm
