General Eo Jae-yeon’s Sujagi Patch — 어재연 장군 수자기 패치

In 1871, the United States Navy sent five warships and over 1,200 troops to Ganghwa Island, part of the Joseon Kingdom (modern-day Korea), as part of a military expedition.

This patch is a tribute to General Eo Jae-yeon, who died in defense of Gwangseongbo Fortress during the conflict. The original command flag (“Sujagi”) that flew under his leadership was taken and is currently displayed at the U.S. Naval Academy Museum in Annapolis.

A replica is now housed on the second floor of the Ganghwa War Museum in Korea. This patch was created based on that replica, redesigned in EDC format.

We honor the memory of General Eo and the soldiers who fell with him.
And through this small patch, we quietly hope that one day the original Sujagi may return home — like a butterfly effect in motion.
