There exists an old Korean text called Yi Chungmugong Jeonseo ("The Complete Writings of Admiral Yi Sun-sin"), which includes descriptions of how the turtle ship (Geobukseon) was constructed. However, historical records show that the turtle ship was not a single, fixed design. It evolved over time, with its form changing through continuous development.
This particular design by edc8ang was inspired by studies and reconstructions of various historical turtle ship models—none of which physically exist today.
Its massive sail folds across the divided bridge, and the sharp spears installed on the deck prevented Japanese forces from attempting close combat.
