The Liberation Army Taegeukgi of Jingwansa
진관사 태극기
The year 1919 is remembered as a time of deep hardship in Korean history.
We were not even allowed to use our own language freely or call our country by its name.
Yet even under such oppression, there were those who took to the streets holding the Taegeukgi (Korean flag), shouting: “Daehan Dokrip Manse!
This particular Taegeukgi was discovered in 2009 during the dismantling of an annex at Jingwansa, a Buddhist temple in Seoul.
The original flag—drawn in black ink over the Japanese national flag—visually reflects the harsh realities of that era in Korea.
Based on the original image, edc8ang has created the Jingwansa Taegeukgi embroidered patch.
